May's Teaching Moment
At Sunday Masses, it is so sad to see that instead of entering the house of God to talk to Him through prayer, many spend the time before Mass chatting or reading the bulletin. Would we enter anyone else’s house and not talk to the host or sit in his house and read? Of course not. So please use your time in church in prayer and not in chatter. And please don't read the bulletin before or during Mass. We must see ourselves as a guest in His house. No guest would read at another's house. We should not leave Mass early. Leaving early robs us of graces. Communion should be followed by prayers and not goodbyes. We depart after the priest. And take the time to pray after Mass. It is a good custom to offer a prayer of thanksgiving after Mass is over. And we should also leave quietly. In this way, we won’t disturb others who want to stay and pray.
