From the Depths of our Hearts

We learn about the first book Pope Emeritus Benedict has co-written since stepping down in 2013; written along with Robert Cardinal Sarah. From the Depths of Our Hearts: Priesthood, Celibacy, and the Crisis in the Catholic Church will be released on February 20 in English by Ignatius Press.

In this show, we speak with the founder of Ignatius Press, Father Joseph Fessio, SJ, a personal friend of Pope Emeritus Benedict, Mark Brumley who is the book's publisher, and Edward Pentin, the Rome correspondent for the National Catholic Register. We learn about how these two theologians address the spiritual challenges faced by priests today including struggles of celibacy. They point to deeper conversion to Jesus Christ as the key to faithful and fruitful priestly ministry and church reform.
